hold that baby

It has been a little while since I offered a personal meditation for the day so I will share a thought that has been with me for a few days and which came to me during prayer.
Shamefully, I have not really been the calmest of persons during this advent season. Though I try to remain in His presence, it seems the “rush” and “demands” placed upon us during this time gets to be a bit overwhelming. I have this picture in my mind of me standing at the foot of an seemingly insurmountable fortress (not unlike the foot of a giant dam or the place of “Helm’s Deep” in the Lord of the Rings trilogy). I am standing at the base of this mountainous place alone and without much hope. But in prayer, instead of looking up at the place I can not pass, I look down. There is a baby there, wrapped up in warm blankets in a basket. I stop looking up, forget about my trouble and hold this beautiful baby. Suddenly all is well.
So, the meditation for the day is “do not get caught up in what you can not control, instead go into your heart and hold this beautiful child, the one who saves. He is peace.”

Lovely, Aeternus. It would be nearly impossible not to get caught up in the stress of it all, and this meditation does indeed provide all the heart needs - a beautiful baby and Prince of Peace.

Aeternus, This is just to say I hope you and your family have a peaceful, joyful and holy Christmas, with those you love. I’ll be in touch before the New Year.

This is really a lovely and helpful meditation, Aeternus. I will try to hold on to the memory of it for next year. I didn’t succeed very well in the “calm” department this Advent either.
Wishing you and your family a very Merry Christmas!
