Surrender to God
“Lord, You know what is best; let this be done or that be done as You please. Give what You will, as much as You will, when You will. Do with me as You know best, as will most please You, and will be for Your greater honor. Place me where You will and deal with me freely in all things. I am in Your hand; turn me about whichever way You will. Behold, I am Your servant, ready to obey in all things. Not for myself do I desire to live, but for You - would that I could do this worthily and perfectly!”
– THOMAS A KEMPIS, From THE IMITATION OF CHRIST, Bk 3, chapter 15

I love this prayer and often think it must be one of God’s favourites. After all He has given us free will, but in this prayer we are willingly surrendering it so as to do His will, accepting His wisdom as so much better than our own. It’s like we’re saying here, God, is the free will You gave me, I’m giving it back because I value more than anything else Your love for me and I trust You enough to surrender all of me to You.

It is not easy this kind of surrender…
I struggle for I have such fear of loosing control of my life. It is not that I do not wish to surrender, it is just some physical or mental nonsense which holds me back so often. I just always repeat to myself… Jesus, I trust in YOU!
