Contemporary prayer to the Holy Spirit
I spotted this prayer on the Carmelite Monastery of the Immaculate Conception in Roebuck, Ireland website. My husband is traveling this week to a conference in Dublin and so I suppose that is why the Holy Spirit led me to this prayer.
O HOLY SPIRIT:
Replace the tension within me
with Holy relaxation:
Replace the turbulance within me
with a sacred calm:
Replace anxiety within me
with a quiet confidence :
Replace the fear within me
with a strong faith :
Replace the bitterness within me
with the sweetness of your grace:
Replace the darkness within me
with a gentle light:
Replace the coldness within me
with a gentle warmth.

It will be no time till he’s back again. But while he’s here I hope he is given a true Irish welcome.
I had a look at the Roebuck site - looked through the whole site, page by page and then back to the homepage and there it was all the time - the beautiful prayer to the Holy Spirit. It was meant for you, Aeternus, I bet you spotted it straight away!

I welcome this prayer, Aeternus; thank you. There’s a little too much tension, turbulence and anxiety lately for my liking; Holy relaxation and sacred calm is what I desire.
The line “replace the bitterness within me with the sweetness of your grace” reminds me of what I just read in one of your earlier posts, in the quote from St. Lawrence of Brindisi: “And for the interior man who lives by the Spirit of God through grace, it is bread and water, but a bread sweeter than honey and the honeycomb…”
